John Merlin Powis Smith

John Merlin Powis Smith (December 28, 1866, London – November 1932) who published as J.M.P. Smith was an American Biblical scholar who worked on a translation of the Bible with Edgar J. Goodspeed (published 1939).[1][2][3][4]

He was born December 28, 1866, in London, son of William Martin and Anne Powis Smith. Enrolled as a graduate student of University of Chicago, 1894.
